Cell Phone Influence On Social Interaction - 2274 Words

Abstract This paper will look into the effects that the use of technology, more specifically cell phones, can influence social interaction. Focusing on the question: does an individual’s level of cell phone usage significantly influence their level of social interaction and increase social anxiety? Does this new age of technology communication strengthen interactions and create dependencies? Technology has changed the way we communicate and interact with others. Face to face communication seems to be diminishing in preference to texting or other technological devices. The following research will analyze a sample for awkwardness without a cell phone device and difficulties with cell phone distractions, as well as comfortably with face to face interactions. Cell Phone Influence on Social Interaction Decades ago we were all wired in-desktops, game consoles, and dial-up internet. Now, everything has become wireless and pocket sized. Emails are not just at home or work but are accessible at the palms of our hands at any given time. Messages are sent back and forth within seconds; a picture or video can be shared to the world in minutes. Advances have changed the way we experience social interaction but what is really happening?
